We all have old school memories~
I always thought the only things that’ll last in the end are photos.
Found some photos while moving from our Beverly Hills apartment to further West. It wasn’t a far move, but some boxes must’ve gotten misplaced. I only found a few of my friend’s photos that brought back the well-kept memories.
I spent my childhood in Korea, China, Japan, and Hawaii, which led me to have many unforgettable memories. My family owned numerous properties around Asia, and the U.S. Three of our homes were in the most secured areas filled with family friends, who were famous and noble. They were family friends and my friends who were the daughters and sons of those figures. I am super sad to say that the boxes full of these memories are missing! =(
However, I am glad I found some of these photos below~
This is one precious photo of my childhood bestie Karen Kim. She is a beloved daughter of S. Korea’s only couple, old school duet vocal entertainer Shineh Kim. Her parents were one of the most famous TV personnel in town, and alongside our homes lived the children of families alike. Her parents would come on TV at a particular time in a day. That’s when my bodyguard ajusshi leaves and my nanny would take over. When that time came, I could meet Karen, and we would start invading her parents’ master bedroom walk-in closet full of costumes, stage makeup, and accessories. We would try everything on and act as if we were in a film or Broadway show. We also had the coolest bicycles because we were tomboys and after we were done playing dress up, we would race near the private park in our community homes.

Bo Mi was another good friend. She is the daughter of a very prestigious family. We also shared many beautiful memories. This is the only photo I found of her. =(

How can I leave out Benihana when mentioning Japanese food Tempanyaki and the man named Hiroaki Aoki. This picture out of other photos leaves a special memory in my heart because it was the first time I jumped off a very high cliff and my bikini top came off! Pictures below were taken in my younger years with the sons of the Aoki Family. I call this the carefree days when we were young, daring, with no worries of this world. We were just kids, enjoying life in the beautiful Island of Hawaii. From what I hear, Steve is now a well-known DJ…

It was right after “May Day” performance in Hawaii. My teacher asked me to translate for her to a new student welcoming into our classroom from S. Korea. Her name is SuJin Lee, who officially became my first Korean best friend in elementary school throughout high school into adulthood. A few years after I got married, she got married to a famous Olympian. She supported me as my #1 fan through my performances as a young girl, and we were partners in crime. =)

S. Korea’s top ten actresses, Lee Hye Young. She was also a member of 1730 and Coco (girl band) and released her solo album. She wanted to see my success as an Artist in S. Korea, but I refused to go back. I was comfortable with my life here in the U.S. This was the last time we hung out together.

Actress Soo-Mi Oh (오수미), her children along with her famous husband were my neighbors growing up. She treated me like her own. On June 30, 1992, she passed due to an accident in Hawaii, which devastated me. Her beautiful portrait below…

Hyun Jin-Young. How can I forget about him when mentioning hip-hop music of Asia. He was one of the very few Artist who introduced hip-hop to S. Korea.
Hyun Jin Oppa
There was a local joint in Hawaii where we would periodically hang out as kids. These were the boys from the K-pop group called Sechs kies. One of the members Eun Ji-won (to my left) is the nephew of S. Korea’s current President, Park, who was also a great friend to my father. I found this out recently…
