What was the experience like at the Stranger Things experience?

Without giving away too much of a spoiler, here’s some information that will help you to decide whether to check this out or not.

I recently received an invitation to attend LA’s fairly new attraction called “Stranger Things: The Drive-Into Experience” from the hit Netflix TV show, “Stranger Things.” For someone like me, who hardly watches anything these days, I attended with an open mind, not knowing what to expect.

First, I was informed that this attraction was currently only available in Los Angeles. Then, I was given a food and drink menu if my guest and I wanted to order something while experiencing the show from the comfort of our own vehicle. Before being handed the menu, it was quite a drive into the parking lot.

We were also instructed to tune our radio to 90.5 FM. There weren’t many menu choices, so we chose the pretzel package, which came with two pretzels, cheese, and a drink (which, to be honest, wasn’t any better than bad school food ).

As we drove in further, we were asked to change the radio station to 95.3 FM, and the “strange” narrative show began.

Lots of strobe lights… fake snow… actors in uniforms running around… I felt like I was in Universal Studios. Perhaps I would have appreciated the event more if I was a fan of the show or at least vaguely familiar with it, but since I am not, I felt as though it was pretty uninteresting. The only thing I personally appreciated was the actors, actresses, and employees ‘ hard work and maybe a few scary jumps (one was a warning from the security to stop recording and another few from the characters dressed up as the Russians.

At the end of the whole tour, I thought to myself; I could’ve entertained myself at home with all the things that they had set up at different levels of a parking lot, while my guest, on the other hand, who did watch the show agreed with me and have made her own remark by saying, “this would’ve been better with a lover on a date.”

Overall, my friend was glad to have experienced it but said she wouldn’t do it again. On the flip side, it would’ve been a good date with a lover ?

Overall, I gave this experience:

Here are the breakdowns of the good and bad…

Good:

* Sit in from the safety of your own car (safe & sanitary)

* Access to the Hawkins Online Portal

* One hour only

* Couple of scares

Bad:

* Not much activity (just strobe lights & snow)

* Pricey ticket cost (we found out later that the ticket cost about $70 for two people)

* Lots of driving

* Bad tasting & quality of food (pricey)

* Not the best acting (some actings were cheesy)

I would love to hear about your experience!
