I was running errands at a post office in West Los Angeles when a man approached me by inquiring as to whether I was from Hawai’i. He said he heard my accent and was curious to know if I was an Islander.?  That was around eighteen years ago, and that man is a writer/producer by the name of Tony Young from Honolulu, Hawai’i. We clicked when he started talking to me about films and media. I was a huge fan of international cinema, ever since a young age. After that day, I have lost contact with him many times throughout the years, but by one way or another, he always found a way to get in touch with me, and I am appreciative for our friendship today.

Me & Tony

It makes me happy for Tony because he has never abandoned his dreams. He keeps on making movies and offers his affection for human expressions.

A month ago, I was invited to the New Dreams International Film Festival Launch. One of Tony’s film, “Micky’s Summer Resort” (A Sci-Fi Teen Comedy) was shown here.

The film was about a Catholic schoolboy who gets a dream job as a screener at a European-Style resort, harbors a supernatural secret. He can zap anyone he doesn’t like, into an alternate dimension, where their greatest fears comically torture them. When the resort decides to host an old-school beauty pageant, Micky soon learns that not all threats to this bohemian community come from the outside.

“Micky’s Summer Resort” is a motion picture with an influential target audience of college-aged young adults curious about alternative lifestyles. Set in the fictional “Willow Valley Naturist Resort.”

In contrast to other Hollywood movies with a similar setting, this is a transitioning film, handling real issues each adolescent appearances, inside a funny sci-fi setting: estrangement and separation, young disobedience and the need to have a place. This film parodies grown-ups on the two sides of the issue reasonably and honestly, through the point of view of youth.

Alicia Arden & Me

I didn’t get to meet all the talents from the film, but I did get to bond with lovely Alicia Arden from the hit T.V show Baywatch and General Hospital. She starred in this film as Tiffany Mairzey looking fabulous as usual. I hope to see this film on the big screen and wish the best of everything to all the talents, Tony, and his executive producer Clinton Wallace.
